Scope of Operations
The Open Banking Forum is an industry coordination platform established to facilitate discussions, collaboration, and strategic decision-making on Open Banking initiatives within the National Payment System (NPS). The forum serves as an industry-led platform that promotes collaboration and high-level decision-making on Open Banking matters within the NPS. It supports the secure sharing of customer-consented financial data through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), enabling enhanced interoperability, competition, and innovation. Through coordinated engagement, standards development, and alignment with regulatory frameworks, the forum plays a key role in building a secure and interoperable Open Banking ecosystem. This ecosystem enhances customer choice, promotes financial inclusion, and enables the development of customer-centric digital financial services across Namibia’s financial sector.
Through collaborative self-regulation, standard-setting, and risk monitoring, PAN coordinating forums ensure high systemic safety, legal compliance, and operational interoperability across Namibia's national payments market.
